Top 10 Things I Learned In Dance Camp

1) If it doesn't hurt, it's not a split.
2) There's no such thing as too much dance class.
3) It doesn't matter if you're doing it right when you're performing, just keep doing it.
4) If you fall, get right back up again (especially if you're performing!)
5) They'll never know what SHOULD have happened.
6) Tap shoes are VERY SLIPPERY on tile floors!
7) The top 5 dancewear companies (they're not on here yet)
8) CENTER STAGE IS THE BEST MOVIE!!
9) How to dance the Swan Lake scene in Center Stage . . . and 5, 6, 7, 8!!

11) It's not fun dancing in what everyone else regards as a

Top 7 Important Revelations Made on the First Day of Modern

1) You get over the "wow, that's freaky!!" stuff REALLY quickly.
2) No such thing as "I can't."
3) Your body is MUCH more flexible than you think it is.
4) Meditation is not a joke.
5) Ballerinas make dance floors really dirty (it's 'cuz they never have to lie down and dance on them!!)
6) Making pretzels with one's body is easier than it looks.
7) Enya's cool, not freaky!

Notes After Taking Modern for several months

1) Torso, torso, torso! Keep it together!
2) There is no limit to your body's flexibility.
3) Practice! You will never get better if you don't!
4) Weird is good! Tears are good! The more of either, the better!
5) ANYONE can choreograph. All you need is a mirror.
6) PILADES HURT, but they pay off!
7) If you want it, go for it!

Things To Remember When it Gets Though

1) It's not because you weren't good enough, it was because they were better.
2) Other people have felt greater pain.
3) There are other companies, other performances, other audiences...life goes on.
4) Always smile!
5) Everyone, yes everyone, yes I do mean EVERYONE, screws up sometimes!
6) Dance because you love it, and show everyone that you do! If you work hard enough and follow your dreams, it'll pay off one day, I promise!

Things I Learned From Going back to Ballet

1) dance with your heart, dance what you feel, that's when you know the dancer is real!!
2) pointe shoes kill.
3) pointe shoes are wonderful!
4) grace is everything!
5) ballet is not boring, time-consuming, or whatever those damn critics say it is. it's the most beautiful and graceful and flow-y tulle-filled art form there is!
6) keep the weight of your feet on your first three toes
7) two words... TURN and OUT
8) mirror is not friend...mirror is not enemy...what is mirror??
9) water bottles cost 50 cents...BRING MONEY!!!!!!!!

1. Girls can fly.

1. Experience and skill in a number of dance forms, especially the one represented by the choreographer.
2. Interest in the arts and a great desire to dance.
3. Strong, healthy body, with a practical regard for joint action.
4. Broad perceptual field and an open mind.
5. Lots of energy, courage, patience, and strength.
6. The ability to cooperate and get along with others.
7. To take criticism and suggestions easily.
8. Tom move with conviction and projection.
9. To have time and energy for rehearsals, and a willingness to work.
10. The ability to move with urgency and passion.
